What to check before you buy

• Confirm the case has not been over-polished — sharp lug chamfers matter more than a mirror finish.
• Check that the dial, hands and bezel insert are original to the reference, not later service parts.
• Match the serial and reference numbers between the case, the papers and the listing.
• Ask when the movement was last serviced, and budget for service if it has been more than five years.
